About the District of Columbia Federation of Music Clubs
The District of Columbia Federation of Music Clubs (DCFMC) brings together individuals and organizations in the Washington metropolitan area with the aim of helping young musicians and encouraging music education. Members are dedicated to making music a part of the community, promoting American artists and composers, and turning the national capital into a focal point of music and musical opportunities. Members include individual musicians, patrons, and music outreach and teaching organizations.
Year after year through its local member clubs, the Federation keeps alive the joy of music for future generations by encouraging and supporting students, emerging professionals, and young composers through the recognition of competitions, concerts, and awards. Membership offers important benefits for students, their teachers, and music lovers of all persuasions. There are three types of clubs in the DCFMC: Senior Clubs, Student Clubs, and Junior Clubs. See the individual pages for more information about Clubs and Membership Categories.
The National Federation of Music Clubs
The National Federation of Music Clubs has supported and encouraged musicians since 1898. With some 200,000 members in more than 5,300 organizations nationwide, the National Federation of Music Clubs, founded in Chicago, Illinois, is one of the world’s largest music societies. It is the only music group that is a member of the United Nations, and is one of three music organizations chartered by the U.S. Congress. The District of Columbia Federation of Music Clubs has been a part of this fine tradition for more than 50 years.
