Volunteer Opportunities
Be Involved
Music is not a spectator sport. The District of Columbia Federation of Music Clubs has ways for everyone--musicians and nonmusicians alike--to get involved!
Singers of different abilities can perform in Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and in opera workshops. Instrumentalists can join ensembles just for fun or for public concerts. Serious musicians, conductors, and composers can advance their careers through opportunities to perform and compete at the national level.
Nonmusicians play an active part too. There are ample opportunities for members to serve on boards and committees, to help organize competitions, or lend a hand with essential behind-the-scenes work. Simply attending performances is also important, for this gives young artists the encouragement they need to persist on the path to success. The applause at the end of a piece is priceless recognition to a young musician.
We are a volunteer organization and rely heavily on our volunteers to keep things running smoothly. Here are a few urgent needs for volunteers:
- Volunteer on the DCFMC Board
- Help with publicity and fundraising
- Help with phone calls/mailings
- Host a concert in your home
- Perform in a recital
- Encourage your students to perform in a recital or competition
- Chair a junior recital
- Join the refreshment committee
- Serve as a recital judge
- Serve as an usher for a music program*
- Take photographs at DCFMC events--digital camera is a must
- Other--Do you have other ideas for volunteers? Please contact us.
If you are interested in helping out in one or more of these areas or would like more information, please contact us.
THANK YOU!!
