Membership

Member Benefits

As a member of the District of Columbia Federation of Music Clubs, you will receive invitations to each of our events and notices of other events as well. In addition, you will receive:

  • An annual Directory of Members containing a calendar of activities. This is also a valuable resource for identifying other musicians who share an interest in playing duets or forming chamber ensembles simply for the enjoyment of music.
  • Quarterly issues of the official journal of the National Federation of Music Clubs. Each issue brings news and information from member clubs across the country, including career updates on past competition winners.
  • The DCFMC's own periodic newsletter keeps you in touch with people and developments at the local level.

Membership Categories

According to the DCFMC bylaws, membership is by club or individual. Club membership is for organizations which promote music through performance or study. There are three categories of clubs: Senior Clubs, Student Clubs, and Junior Clubs.

Junior Clubs are limited to organizations whose members are not over 18 years of age. Student Clubs are limited to organizations whose members are from 16 to 25 years of age. Senior Clubs are for those above 25 years of age. By-laws require that the DCFMC have at least three active senior clubs. Requirements include a president, board of directors and membership of people over 25 interested in furthering the musical life of the community.
